If you’ve been following Alberta agriculture news lately, you may have heard that cattle prices are climbing fast, and not without reason. As a small family farm committed to raising 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef, we want to share what’s happening, why it matters, and how we’re responding.
The past few years, Alberta has faced severe drought conditions. Hay crops have suffered, pastures were dry, and many producers were struggling to feed their herds. As a result:
- Feed costs have skyrocketed
- Herd sizes are shrinking as farmers downsize or exit the industry
- Demand remains strong, but supply is tightening
According to the Alberta Economic Dashboard, slaughter cattle prices have increased by over 15%, reaching historic highs. These pressures are affecting farms across the province—including ours.
While some producers are selling off early or sending cattle south, we’re choosing a different path. We’re staying committed to:
- Raising our cattle ethically and sustainably on pasture
- Offering transparent pricing with no hidden fees
- Providing custom-cut, dry-aged beef that’s delivered with care
We believe in doing things the right way—even when it’s harder. That’s why we’ve made a small adjustment to our pricing for the upcoming fall harvest.
Quarter: ~100lbs of beef, $12.20/lb Approximate Total: $1220
Half: ~200lbs of beef, $12.00/lb Approximate Total: $2400
Whole: ~400lbs of beef, $12/lb Approximate Total: $4800
All pricing includes dry-aging, custom cutting, and local pick up options.
Even with this update, our prices remain well below retail averages for grass-fed beef in Alberta grocery stores and butcher shops.
We’re now accepting quarter and half beef orders for our Fall 2025 harvest. Quantities are limited, and we expect to sell out quickly.
